The Teacher's Journies Mary Ann Parmelee began
her Journey with horses at the age of 6 after begging her parents for lessons at The School of Horsemanship in Grand Rapids,
MI. She learned from watching lessons and was influenced by such greats as Gabor Foltenyi, Bert de Nemethy, Bill Steinkreis,
Gordon Wright and George Morris. Mary Ann's philosophy is that riders must understand their responsibilities and
the true meaning of commitment. She believes developing brainpower and exemplifying a high degree of dedication are
key ingredients to achieving success not only with riding, but in life. She and her husband Tom (also a horseman) have
lived in Aiken, SC for almost 20 years. www.chessmanfarm.com Jayne Stewart believes that the Journey is the
Destination. Jayne has 30 years of training experience with all breeds and disciplines. Jayne got her first horse
at age 13 and competed successfully in Pony Club and 4-H. She then graduated from Morven Park International Equestrian
Institute and continued her traning and riding career. She also became a TTEAM/ttouch practioner in 1997 and uses the
theories of Centered and Connected Riding. Jayne now lives in Asheville, NC. She uses her uniques perspective
in working with adults and their horses. www.Journeyhorse.com. Bill Payne has owned and operated Penn's Woods
Stable since 1978. He first began trail riding on the family farm in NY. He then went on to ride and show American
Saddlebreds. While in high school and college he began riding and showing hunter-jumpers. Bill moved down south and
started training both horses and riders. He has won many awards at the local Blue Ridge and PSJ circuits including the
BRHJA Horseperson of the year. He also foxhunted for many years. Bill combines classical dressage with natural
horsemanship to make his lessons fun and educational. www.pennswoodsstable.com
